We are delighted to share with you the full programme of the Third Edition of FIILI – Festival of Italian and Irish Literature in Ireland, curated by Catherine Dunne (Irish PEN/PEN na hÉireann), Enrica Ferrara (Trinity College Dublin) and Marco Gioacchini (Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Dublin).
The theme of this year is ‘In Other Wor(l)ds’, for this is what literature aims to do: it translates, reimagines and adapt our world into other worlds through words of fiction, poetry, non-fiction, theatre.
FIILI is an initiative of the Italian Institute of Culture in Dublin, Irish PEN/PEN na hÉireann and Trinity College Dublin (part-funded from the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Events Fund), supported by Literature Ireland, the Society for Italian Studies and the Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation and in partnership with MoLI – Museum of Literature Ireland.
This year’s Festival will highlight the work of Italian poets and writers Alessandro Baricco, Claudia Durastanti, Silvio Perrella, Gian Maria Annovi, Marco Balzano, Nadia Terranova, Giovanni Fasanella, Vittorio Bufacchi and Stefania Auci. Italian authors will be in conversation with Irish writers and poets Joseph O’Connor, Christine Dwyer Hickey, Justine McCarthy, Kimberly Campanello, Aifric MacAodha, Naoise Dolan and Darran Anderson.
On the 26th and 27th September, the Festival will be held at the Italian Cultural Institute and Trinity College Dublin (Regent House).
On the 26th September, two distinguished Irish writers, Catherine Dunne and Joseph O’Connor, will be in conversation at the Italian Cultural Institute. The opening event will see acclaimed translators Elvira Grassi, Katherine Gregor and Howard Curtis in conversation with James Hadley, Director of the Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation. On the 27th September, all panels will be moderated by the curators and by Viviana Fiorentino (Irish PEN/PEN na hÉireann), Sinéad Mac Aodha (Literature Ireland) and Stiliana Milkova (Oberlin College).
