With an impressive record of acclaimed and award-winning films, such as L’amore molesto [Troubling Love] (1995), Noi credevamo [We Believed] (2010), Il giovane favoloso [Leopardi] (2014), Capri Revolution (2014), Qui rido io [The King of Laughter] (2021), Nostalgia (2022), and the docufilm Laggù qualcuno mi ama [Massimo Troisi: Somedody Down There Likes Me], to name but a few, Italian film and stage director Mario Martone is among Italy’s most esteemed and influential contemporary cultural figures. The School of Media, Arts and Humanities at the University of Sussex is proud to host “Italian Cinema (and Theatre) Today: Mario Martone in Conversation with Ambra Moroncini, Guido Bonsaver and Darrow Schecter” to gain first-hand insights into the artistic and civic significance of Martone’s work.
