The Society for Italian Studies welcomes any expressions of interest from PhD candidates across the UK and Ireland to host the next SIS Postgraduate Colloquium in 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to hold a one-day PG-driven conference on a chosen topic of discussion within the field of Italian Studies.

The most recent Colloquia have focused on the themes of “Italian Literature and culture through a comparative lens” (Cambridge, 2025) and “Memory and Italian Culture” (Cork, 2024). You can find the complete list of previous events here.

The SIS PG Colloquium often falls in December. The Society for Italian Studies offers funding and support with the conference planning, publicity and logistics. The event aims to bring together members of the PG community to engage with a timely theme by presenting and discussing relevant research on the topic. The conference organisers will later serve as Guest Editors for the annual issue of the peer-reviewed journal
Notes in Italian Studies, which will include selected conference contributions.
